Fruits of our labour

Image
After a few dreary days, this morning the sun decided to peep out from behind the clouds again. A perfect opportunity to show you some nice things in our garden... Huh, that ain't a plant... Correct! It's Hannah's new summer dress. Which I shamelessly copied from another dress she got recently. I liked the model, it was easy to make (ish) and literally got done in two nights. It's pink, it's a dress, it makes mommy very popular with 8-year-old girls. Always nice to get a smile on that wee face! And a wee mouse on the back... But really, lots of fruit (and veg) in the garden! After those two days of rain, the garden is exploding! (And so are the weeds, but that's a different story, we know what to do this weekend...) One of our cabbages... This is the savoy, I think... Also have a cauliflower and normal cabbage lurking around. As some kohlrabi, which is doing really well. The carrots are lagging behind a bit. They will get a talking to this weekend... And

Two exited faces in a fairground ride in Slagharen... One obviously ready for 'the big stuff', one getting used to the weird feeling twisting and turning about gives you in your stomach...

The thing about shawls knitted from the center is that by the time you're nearly done, you have a lot of stitches on your needles... You start out with 3 stitches, increase a few here and there... Then add some more and notice that slowly but surely your needles are filling up... Until you get so many stitches that they hardly fit on your needles anymore and you have a frump on your lap... And after two hours of casting off stitches... you have a lovely, soft, squishy, shawlette. Gorgeous! Meet Citron... Knit from homespun merino with some with silk threads spun through here and there... See how soft it is? The colours also keep changing in the light... One minute it looks blue, another it looks green. Amazing. Now, all that is left is to sew in a few threads, give it a light stretch and then wear it proud on days when that morning cycle is still a bit too chilly... On to the next project... What to knit from 4 balls (200 grams) of this? I think I'll actually crochet this

Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuma...

See this? Best bag ever? Meet the Namaste Zuma Red, the softest, roomiest, cutest of knitting bags in the universe, sold here . If you don't have one yet, get your arse over there. Buy one. You won't be disappointed!!! And this: Best ginger cupcake recipe ever? How a whole tablespoon of ginger and ten cloves, with lots of other spices turn into the yummiest cupcakes EVER. EVER. Really. The lemon ones were nice too. When I was yumming during the wedding, it was not Pippa's dress, not Kate's dress, not their brother's behind. No, it was the cupcakes. Yummmmm... And this: The most fortunate case of karma ever? And the weirdest find at the Queen's Day Flea Market... We had given away a box of books, which unfortunately had my copy of Ulysses in it. With notes. Guess what hubby found at a free give-away stand! We only noticed it was MY COPY when we got home and opened it up. My goodness, some books are just destined to never leave your side... This is one
